| Strategic Plan 2019-2024 |
|
We are pleased to share with you our strategic plan. We spent the summer reflecting on the discussions that took place at the opening symposium, getting feedback from our advisory board, and using what we heard to figure out our priorities for the next five years.

| Welcome Affiliated Post-docs |
| The CCA is welcoming Candace Miller and Tal Feder, who will serve as affiliated post-docs for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Candace Miller is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Virginia in 2019. Her research interests focus on race/ethnicity, urban sociology, and culture.
Tal Feder is the Jonathan Shapiro postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in Tel Aviv University. His current research focuses on access to art and cultural policy. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Haifa in a joint program with Humboldt University, Berlin. |

| Inaugural CCA Speaker Series Event |
| Professor Geoffrey Crossick will give the inaugural talk for the CCA Speaker Series on September 20th. His talk, “Why aren't we better at talking about the value of arts and culture?” will draw on his work through the Cultural Value Project, an initiative he directed for the UK’s Arts & Humanities Research Council. | Opening Symposium |
|
We held our opening symposium titled, New Frontiers in Arts Research, this past May. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us in Bloomington for this dynamic event. Photos and other info from the event can be found here

| 2019 Research Workshop |
| We held the inaugural Research Workshop the day following the opening symposium. Workshop participants gave paper presentations on the topic of “Program and Policy Evaluation in the Arts.” The papers covered issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion programs at museums, higher education and the arts, media literacy programs for adolescent girls, cultural planning, and K-12 arts education. The papers are under review and after revisions will appear in a special issue of the journal Cultural Trends in late 2019/early 2020. |

| Arts, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Lab Update |
