Bio

Jonathan Paquette is professor at the School of Political Studies where he teaches in the Public Administration programmes. Building on a comparative and historical perspective, his research programme focuses on heritage policies, on heritage professionals, and on cultural organizations. His research programme focuses on the colonization/decolonization of heritage, and on the ethical challenges these raise for the heritage policy and administration in the francophone world. With the support of SSHRC (2020-2024), his current work take a closer look at these challenges as they have emerged in the francophone world in Asia-Pacific.

He is chairholder of la Chaire de recherche en francophonie internationale sur les politiques du patrimoine culturel, a research chair funded by the University of Ottawa, whose objective is to understand institutional changes and ethical challenges faced by heritage professionals and organisations across French-speaking countries. Jonathan Paquette is also executive editor of the Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society, a journal published by Routledge/Taylor and Francis.
