OSLO, NORWAY – On November 20-25, 2023, the Center for Cultural Affairs (CCA) met with leaders at a summit held for cultural and creative industry (CCI) centers around the globe to form a cross-institutional network with the BI Norwegian Business School’s Center for Creative Industries.
Researchers from 18 cultural and creative industry centers from Europe, the United States, and Australia attended the summit. The meeting included representatives from CCI centers at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, SDA Bocconi in Italy, Erasmus University in The Netherlands, and others. The objective was to launch a new network for research centers to brainstorm and identify opportunities for collaboration to address issues facing the CCI with a focus on making an impact. “Our participation in this summit, and the resulting network of CCI centers reflects the CCA’s growing influence in cultural affairs around the world,” stated Joanna Woronkowicz, faculty director of the CCA. “We’re proud to be a part of this international collaboration and continuing to work with our friends from around the world on advancing the field in CCI.”
The next phases of the new CCI network – called the Oslo Network for CCI – includes writing and publishing a research agenda for the field, and developing an infrastructure for sharing policy insights and global data on CCIs. The next meeting of the Oslo Network will take place in France in 2024.
