BLOOMINGTON, IN - The Center for Cultural Affairs has announced its Fall 2023 Workshop in Cultural Affairs series schedule. The 6-session workshop series will feature a diverse lineup of perspectives and topics in cultural affairs and policy.
All workshops are virtual and will take place biweekly on Wednesdays from 12-1pm EST. Workshop dates and speakers include:
- September 20: Patricia Banks, Mount Holyoke College, "Diversity Capital and Corporate Support of Black Culture"
- October 4: Felix Koenig, Carnegie Mellon University, “Technical Change and Superstar Effects: Evidence from the Rollout of Television”
- October 18: Michael Rushton, Indiana University, Live Q&A Interview by Joanna Woronkowicz
- November 1: Brent Lutes, U.S. Copyright Office, “The Economics of Copyright Policy”
- November 15: Greig de Peuter/Nicole Cohen, Wilfrid Laurier University, “Creative Class Conflict: The Labour Organizing Surge in the Media and Cultural Industries”
- November 29: Giacomo Negro, Emory University, “Culture and Innovation: A Study of the Popular Music Industry”
Each workshop will include a 30-minute presentation from the speaker followed by 30 minutes of discussion and collaborative workshop time. “The workshop series is our most popular program at the CCA. It is a program that engages a wide range of audiences from across academia and practice and helps build a network in cultural affairs research,” says Joanna Woronkowicz, Faculty Director of the CCA.
